MonteBong

MonteBong was formed in mid-2001 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, fuses various musical styles, such as reggae, ska, salsa, cumbia, rumba, latin, rocksteady, dub, afro and funk, among others. The band´s sound has evolved over their 11 years of existence, and this has resulted in the development of their own unique style, which was materialized in “Vibra el Arbol”, their first album, consisting of 18 tracks, and demonstrating a musical journey over different atmospheres and soundscapes. “Vibra el Arbol” was presented to the public on March 4th, 2005 before 1,500 fans in Rambla Catalunya, Guadalajara. In December of 2007, the group launched their second album, “En Sintonía con la Tierra”, consisting of 14 previously unreleased tracks which transmit themes about nature, love and spirituality, inspired by the band´s previous tour to the south of México, and contains more intimate, less festive, but calmer and deeper songs, reflecting a musical maturity without losing the band´s style. “En Sintonía con la Tierra” was presented in April 30th, 2008, reuniting more than 2,000 people in a respected club in the city, as a conclusion to their journey across the Mexican republic.Currently, MonteBong is promoting their most recent album, “Aquí y Ahora”, which includes 12 new musical pieces, organized into 17 tracks. The band´s sound continues to maintain an identity based on the fusion of styles without defining borders between them, achieving the materialization of a definite signature style after having reached musical evolution over their first decade as a band. As part of MonteBong´s philosophy, this album was presented in its birth city on April 21st, 2012 within the frame of Earth Day. It will also be launched to the international market through its sale on iTunes and in other specialty stores.MonteBong is one of the most active original bands in the national reggae and world beat scene, and have shared the stage with international artists such as The Skatalites, Rico Rodriguez, Ky-Mani Marley, Easy Star All Stars, Mad Professor, Cultura Profética, Gondwana, Los Cafres, Pericos, Rabanes, Rastrillos, Antidoping and many more. 2012, a very significant year, as much for ancient cultures as for modern society, will be the portal year in which MonteBong, charged with renewed energy, by way of their first international tour , will take its career to the next level, crossing borders and expressing the positive message of love and resistance across eloquent, rhythmic beats.
